Johnny, Bruce, and Phil were all great--at least over the phone. I met with Johnny personally and he was really nice and patient, answered my questions, and was very thorough.
They all got back to me promptly when I called, and they had the car ready right when I needed it done. I like that they include picking you up and/or bringing the car to you as part of the service.
Their prices seemed a little on the high side. They charge $110 an hour which is about the going rate, but the parts seemed higher. Hard to tell though since Porsche parts are high any way you slice it. Overall I was treated very fairly.
Don't bother with this place if you have a base model BMW. I dropped off my car and did not receive a shuttle service because they were too busy giving rides to clients with the overpriced Porsches. When I returned 2 days later to pick up my car and thought they were going to bring my car to me as I was waiting to pay for the repair bill. Instead I had to dash across Talbert to retrieve my car that is now dirty on the outside with grease spots on the inside. I wonder how much these guys charge for the car pickup and delivery service.
My 987 started smoking. My water pump went out and the car was fuming. I towed it to Bruce, he did a full inspection, tested to make sure I didn't damage anything else, then he found out that I had warranty that would cover it. So I had to towed to the dealer. The bill would have ran me an easy $900. I asked him how much I owed him for the tests and inspection, he told me to be safe and shook my hand and that ended it right there.
Simply stated, in my opinion, Autowerkes represents honesty, integrity, and superior quality of automotive service and repairs. Bruce Powers, and his staff members Johnny and Phil are committed to providing the absolute best care for their customers automotive service and repair needs. I will confidently refer Autowerkes to my relatives and friends for their automotive service and repair requirements.
Thank-You Autowerkes for your exceptional and reliable customer service.
Each time I bring one of my old Porsches into Autowerkes I get great and friendly service. I've had air conditioning and door lock repairs on my Targa and fuel pump and exhaust repairs on my 912. The work has been done quickly and correctly each time. Today I went in with a problem with my front trunk latch mechanism and Johnny was able to repair it quickly. When I asked how much, he said "no charge." It is service like this that makes me return and recommend Autowerkes to others.
After my first visit, I would never consider taking my Porsche anywhere else. Also I would have probably dumped this 911 and gone back to Audi or Mercedes.
I had not been inside an independent shop since 2004. Always factory service plans, always under factory warranty. I have been driving new sports cars until I bought a used 911 from CarMax (Don't ever do that to yourself. Their Porsche 911s were all trashed, including mine (had to return the first one after 3 days).
I am extremely OCD about my cars. The car needed a 40K service. Dealer service was about $2,000. They are involved with PCA (Porsche Club of America), so called up Bruce.
1-Making an appointment was extremely easy.
2-They gave me a ride to and from the car rental place which is very close.
3-Perfect communication about the car.
4-Car was ready exactly when promised.
5-They suggested that I should replace the tires because of uneven ware (which I did the same day and was the only thing they suggested I do). And what a difference is made.
6-They had done a full inspection of the car. They went over every detail and explained everything to me.
7-The cost was less than 1/2 of the dealer price and they used OEM factory parts.
Here is the beautiful part:
The next day I noticed a coolant leak from. I called them, they asked me to drive there which I did. While I was waiting, they checked the car. Turned out the old coolant cap had gone bad. Within minutes they had a new cap brought in for me, replaced it and they would not even let me pay for it. Called me the next day to check-up on the car.
Many thanks to Bruce, Phil and Johnny. Rare to have three ASE Master Technicians with years of experience all work on your car.
Came by the shop couple of months ago with questions on purchasing a 2007-2009 Porsche. Bruce gave me some ideas and what to look for. I looked at several 2007-2009 Carreras and with Bruces info I purchased one in Newport Beach. Took it to Bruce today who checked it over, we went for an exciting test drive, with the final analysis that it was an extremely well taken care of 2009. Here is where I will go in the future - Thanks, Bruce
Bruce and the head mechanic, Phil has always taken care of me and my 5 series BMW and mercedes for the last 8 years. The whole crew is knowledgeable and very personable. These guys are honest and do a reputable job on my cars. Prices are good and beats the dealership for sure. Very Convenient to me since I live in Huntington Beach. I can always go there and ask questions about anything without getting charged for their time. A carwash when I pick up my car is always a welcomed site! After going here for so long, these guys have actually become your friends. Recommended if you are looking for honest work at reasonable prices. European cars are expensive to upkeep in general, but these guys make it a bit less painfull to own them.
AutoWerkes is a top notch repair shop that specializes in German vehicles.
This shop has really knowledgeable techs with a lot of experience. They only use high quality parts and stand by the work they do. Saying that, let me point out they are not the cheapest out there, but they do the best work, and it's worth it.
I usually deal with Bruce in the office. He is one of the owners and really knows his stuff. He can identify your issue and use his computer database to give you an accurate estimate for the repair.
Bottom Line: You have a nice car, take it to a good shop. Autowerkes will fix it right :-)
